Ford Pedestrian System Hack

The goal is to give us truck owners the ability to replace the OEM truck sounds with something else. It is EASY to defeat this device, but that would be unsafe. DOT requires sounds to be made, but they don't require any specific sounds. So why not allow us to decide that sounds we want to annoy others with?

It appears there are 300 bytes of data @ 0xffe80 in the dump. This may be a crypto signature, which would be nearly impossible to decode. I have had no luck in decoding the code. The audio seems to be 32 bit stereo encoded @ 22050 sampling rate.

Is this project dead? NO, I keeping this page for anyone that needs this information.

Now what? The interface is simple, Canbus messages tell the module when the truck is backing up or going forward and the device plays the audio. I am playing with a canbus sniffer to get the messages and could then replace the module with a circuit that would be easy to control the audio.
